Dorado is a town the enchants the visitor as well as the resident. Known also as "Puerto Rico's Paradise" and "Where life is beautiful" its surroundings exemplifies the type of lifestyle many modern families look for. Whether you are an avid golfer, tennis player or enjoy kiteboarding and surfing you have found your paradise. There are many developments in Dorado. During the late 1990s the construction boom placed Dorado at the epicenter of architecture and construction development. Many new houses were built along the hotels and in adjacent areas, hence the need for professional realtors. The need for more infrastructure and services grew in a very short time and now Dorado counts with many amenities to satisfy its growing population. If your interest is in gastronomy, Dorado offers many local restaurants for all budgets. From gourmet cuisine to "chinchorros" (local eateries) by the beach, your palate will enjoy an adventure of spices and flavors. The beach known as "Playa Sardinera de Dorado" is a public beach offering parking services for a small fee. Once there you can purchase food and drinks at reasonable prices. The beach is in the Atlantic Ocean were the water temperature is about 78 - 85 degrees fahrenheit year round. Surfing is a very popular sport in Dorado. For the best waves, surfers usually go to "Kikita" in Mameyal, or "Brenas". For more information on surf spots and conditions your best bet is to contact the local surf shop Kaliche. Kiteboarding is also another popular sport in Dorado. Many kiters fly out of the East Beach from Dorado Beach property. To get to the spot you have to have access to the hotel or walk 15 minutes with your gear from the public beach. If you are a cinema aficionado, Dorado now counts with a movie theater operated by Caribbean Cinemas. There are also many grocery stores and shopping centers for all of your apparel, automotive and jewelry needs to name a few. For year round residents with families, Dorado counts with public and private schools as well as a Montesorri VPK and elementary school.
